![]() It makes one really relish a journey and not just rush from A to B. Access to the site is along typically narrow and high-sided Cornish country lanes with passing bays: be patient, practice reversing and try not to be precious about getting close to the hedgerows and you'll be fine. Reception has a variety of basic goods and beach equipment and a doggie station with biscuits and water. There's a point for washing beach stuff /surf kit etc, a children's play area and a cafe (open at specified times/days only). I didn't view the 'premises' but if the rest of the site is to go by, I am sure they are clean and well-kept. There's a small stream at the far boundary. It's not enormous (a plus) with EHU grass and hard-standing pitches. I did take a look at the touring site - which was level, and had picnic tables at various points and looked well kept. It was quiet and tranquil, just what was needed, with the bonus of a 15 minute or so stroll through woods to the village shops etc and the Blue Flag beach (mostly on a traffic-free route). The park (not huge - a good thing) was extremely well kept and in a super position on overlooking the valley and opposite hills, so one had a view (although not of the sea). We had a warm welcome and when needed, the staff (and again I said I'd mention Kelly, Kim, Emma and Stacey) were friendly and helpful. I felt ashamed at the state of my home after this! ![]() This was both a wonderful surprise and well-timed as we'd had a very difficult time with a major family trauma.Īs for the site: we stayed in a static caravan which was a new one on me, and we were very impressed, comfortable, well-equipped and exceptionally clean. Reviews: 79 in total, now showing 1 to 10 Previous 10 Next 10įirstly, a huge 'thank you' to UK Campsite and Lovat Parks for this holiday - we won it as a prize in the Advent Calendar. It again showed that even if there was some moments of the show that weren’t as good, The Verve Pipe knew its best songs, and when to play them.Offroad Dog Walk On Site or Direct Access ![]() It even recaptured the structure of the song where the band fades out and builds up back in – with the audience clapping it along all the while. ![]() The Verve Pipe closed the show with another cover – of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” Like “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” it, too fit in the band’s wheelhouse, as it played it faithful to the original – replicating the male/female vocal exchanges, thumping drums and layered vocals. “Supergig” was a more rocking version of the same. And Vander Ark performed it with similar tension, with long-held notes. The encore opened with a song and performance that may have been just as good as “The Freshmen.” The layered, echoed vibe on “Reverend Girl” had a lot in common with “The Freshmen,” as did its roiling tension. Vander Ark rarely addressed the crowd, apologizing at one point for not being more interactive, saying that the band so enjoys playing that “you forget other people are here.”īut in his most extended exchange, after “The Freshman” he explained that he didn’t keep the same hairstyle as he did in the song’s video – as contemporaries such as Rob Thomas of matchbox 20 and Johnny Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls have – because it took so much effort It also showed the song still is easily the band’s best. The song started respectfully quiet, slow and stark, and built tension as the band became more and more full. When it did perform that hit, it again showed The Verve Pipe knows how to play. It was the best of the night before The Verve Pipe played “The Freshmen” two thirds of the way through the set. That music ability let The Verve Pipe do a very good cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” – appropriately spooky, and very much in The Verve Pipe’s wheelhouse, with its layered and echo-y vibe, though not as rocking as the original. All the band’s members are good musicians.Īnd the audience, hearing some of the magic it heard in the 1990s, appeared pleased, judging from its applause and reaction to the music. Yet through all of them, the music sounded good.
